Sol de Janeiro has become one of the most popular and beloved beauty brands in recent years. Known for their Brazilian-inspired scents and products infused with Cupuaçu butter, Sol de Janeiro’s perfume mists have earned a cult following.
I love how smells can remind me of special memories, take me to far-off places, or set the mood for different events. That’s why I’m so into Sol de Janeiro’s perfumes. They have a Brazilian word, Cheirosa, which means smelling really good. I’m all for that!
I’ve tried all five of Sol de Janeiro’s perfumes over two weeks, and they’re all about happy, summery vibes. I’ve also had the chance to smell the brand new limited edition mists. So, let’s dive into this review and find out which fragrances are my favorites!
1. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’62 Hair & Body Fragrance Mist
Cheirosa ’62 is my top pick for a fragrance mist because it smells like happy summer days. It has this warm and familiar scent, the same one you find in the famous Brazilian Bum Bum Cream.
It’s mainly pistachio, salted caramel, and vanilla, but it’s not too strong or overwhelming. Surprisingly, the scent sticks around for a while after spraying it.
If you want to smell it even more, here’s a tip: use it with the Brazilian Bum Bum Cream and the shower cream-gel from the same brand. There are two sizes available, 8.1 oz and 3.04 oz. People often ask me about this great beachy scent when I wear it.
2. Sol de Janeiro SOL Cheirosa ’62 Eau de Parfum
I like something stronger and sweeter smelling that stays on for a long time, so I go for the Cheirosa ’62 perfume. It smells a lot like the body spray and cream, but it’s sweeter and cozier.
When I smell it, the vanilla and almond jump out at me more than in the body spray which is softer. The best thing is it sticks around way longer, especially when I spray it on my clothes. And to really kick it up, I spray the lighter mist in my hair too.
This perfume comes in small and bigger bottles, and it’s got this warm, spicy kind of smell. Someone even said online that it’s better than the body spray, calling it sweet, rich, and warm. They said it clings to clothes all day long and can even last through a workout!
3. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’71 Hair & Body Fragrance Mist
I don’t want to hide the truth: Not everyone likes perfumes that smell like desserts. But if you’re like me and want to smell like a yummy, spicy cookie, there’s this amazing perfume called Cheirosa ’71.
It smells like sweet, rich vanilla, kind of like vanilla that’s been cooked to taste extra good. Mix that with the smell of baked macadamia nuts and this special scent called tonka bean, and you get something really cozy and welcoming. People always ask me what smells so good!
Even though I stop noticing the scent after wearing it for a bit, it’s actually really long-lasting. I was surprised when I wore my sweatshirt again three days later and could still smell the perfume on it.
So, it’s a mist you spray on yourself, it smells sweet and rich, and comes in a 3-ounce bottle. One customer loved it so much they said if you like strong sweet smells, you should definitely buy it. They tried it at Sephora and couldn’t resist. They use it on their hair but you can spray it all over and enjoy feeling like a treat!
4. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’68 Beija Flor Hair & Body Fragrance Mist
I recently tried out the Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’68 by Sol de Janeiro, and I must say, it’s quite an interesting scent.
I wore a perfume called Cheirosa ’68 for a date, and the next day, I got a message saying my bed still smelled like it. This perfume is different from other Sol de Janeiro scents. It’s not warm or spicy. Instead, it’s light and fresh because it has dragonfruit and jasmine in it. I think it’s a new kind of sexy smell. It makes me think of fun and flirty adventures, which is what happened on my date!
It has a fruity, sweet fragrance that’s perfect for warmer weather. At first, I noticed a strong resemblance to some other popular fragrances like KKW Body 2 and Baccarat Rouge 540, but it also has its own unique twist.
The scent is definitely on the sweeter side, with hints of fruitiness and floral notes. It’s light and airy, making it suitable for everyday wear, especially during the summer. I found it to be quite refreshing and uplifting.
5. Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa ’59 Perfume Mist
I’ve found a gem in Cheirosa ’59. It’s a comforting fragrance that starts with a Vanilla Orchid note and envelops you in warmth. As it settles on my skin, the blend of sweetness from Sugar and a whisper of Violet come through without being overpowering. The Sandalwood base adds a lasting depth, making the scent linger throughout the day.
Remarkably, the longevity is impressive for a mist; I still catch compliments hours after I’ve spritzed it on, which is quite the feat for a body mist. It feels especially right during the chillier months and effortlessly transitions from day to night.
I’ve also been using the matching lotion, which is rich and moisturizing, adding to the scent’s staying power. While there’s a similarity to other sweet fragrances like Ariana Grande’s Moonlight, Cheirosa ’59 has its unique charm.
In short, Cheirosa ’59 has become my go-to for a scent that’s both sweet and sophisticated. It’s like a warm, sunny embrace in a bottle, ideal for anyone who loves their fragrance to have a sweet, woody edge with just the perfect hint of floral.
6. Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa ’40 Bom Dia Hair & Body Fragrance Mist
I think Cheirosa ’40 is really unique. It changes on my skin and can smell fruity, warm, or a little spicy. That’s probably why so many people like it. It’s the same smell as the Bom Dia Bright Cream and the AHA BHA Body Wash, which Beth Gillette from Cosmo really likes. This makes it easy to use more of the same scent.
When I first tried the mist, I had to wait a bit to really like it. At first, there was a strong smell of alcohol, which I didn’t notice with other mists. But then, I started to smell the sweet black amber plum and jasmine, which was nice. Later, vanilla and wood smells came through, making the scent deep and rich but still bright.
The mist comes in two sizes, 8 oz and 3 oz. It’s a mix of fruity, floral, and warm scents. One customer said they absolutely love this perfume, especially the vanilla and plum smells. They said it smells like sugar and gives off confident vibes.
7. Sol de Janeiro Rio Radiance Perfume Mist
I love this spray because when I use it, it’s like I’m at the beach. It smells like flowers, coconut, and vanilla, which makes me feel happy and relaxed. Even though I’m in my apartment in New York, it makes me think I’m on vacation.
It’s like they put the sun in a bottle to make me feel good. The spray comes in two sizes: big (8.1 oz) and small (3.04 oz). Another person said they really like the smell too and it makes them feel more confident and happy, like they’re a different person when they wear it.
No matter which scent you choose, Sol de Janeiro’s perfume mists all share that signature Brazil-inspired sensuality with notes of warm vanilla, lush fruits, and creamy florals. When picking your perfect match, consider when and where you plan to wear it most. The long-lasting warm gourmands like ’71 and ’40 are perfect for cooler months and nights, while the fruity blends like ’62 and ’68 energize for summer days. With their intoxicating scents and beautiful packaging, Sol de Janeiro perfumes make wonderful gifts too. Mist yourself in positive vibes and tropical essences with these top five Sol de Janeiro fragrances.
